Maklaud Master Djou

What makes up the magic of Master Djou’s creation? How was it born, what was it made of... this is what we want to tell you about.
Let’s start with the main figure.
For the liveliness of the body color was chosen Shoksha quartzite, known for its special strength. It is complex, capricious, requires great artistry to work with, but will reward the future owner of the piece with truly valuable qualities — the music of clear forms and the play of flowing contrasts. The clothing is woven from pure silver. This is truly painstaking jewelry work. It was woven for months, gently, by thin, diligent hands. The masters drew out and refined each facet, weaving the precious metal into an intricate pattern.
The saucer, too — light to the point of airiness — was literally smoothed out in a fluid motion, using a special jewelry technique. We wanted to create a unique transition, an effect of inner fullness and the grace of a floating movement — the feeling of a light cloud.
Emerald jade fills the union of forms with life and natural light, while a light pattern of the finest silver flows in coils of meaning, growing with elegance and sparkling silence.
The base, as well as the transitional moments, are depicted in the traditional Chinese form of fluid movement with rhythms of sharp, ordered edges.
We worked with Caucasian hornbeam and European oak — two long-lasting foundations used in the hookah’s finish. The mouthpiece with silver weaving repeats the image of the main composition. And Master Djou is stored behind the magical shutters of old oak, under lock and key. A small handmade picture, an image drawn in silver of the One who brings prosperity, wealth, and good fortune to the home.

Unique materials and artistic approach

Maklaud products are handmade from the sketch and prototype of the model to polishing and packaging, which explains their exclusivity and quality corresponding to works of art of small forms. The work uses classic, as well as alternative materials and technologies, which we constantly research and successfully master in our work.
