Tianlong — The Celestial Dragon
Tianlong is regarded as one of the most exalted figures in Chinese mythology. He does not govern the elements or guard the earthly realm — his place is among the celestial palaces, where he serves the Jade Emperor and stands watch over the divine order.
Ancient legends tell that the Tianlongs accompany the gods on their journeys, bear their heavenly chariots, and guard the gates of the highest realm. They are impossible to imagine bound to the earth. These are dragons born for eternal flight, where the clouds become their path and the wind their only companion.
— The sculpture is filled with a sense of weightlessness. The dragon’s long body flows freely through space, as if gliding among the clouds, untouched by the laws of the earthly world.
— Flowing ribbons surround the figure, emphasizing its swift movement and recalling the imagery of ancient Chinese scrolls and temple sculptures. They become an extension of the currents of air in which Tianlong exists.
— His appearance is free of ferocity and heaviness. Noble features, long whiskers, elegant horns, and a calm gaze convey the dignity of a being with no need to display its power.
Tianlong does not seek to conquer the world — he exists above it. This sculpture embodies neither rage nor battle, but the quiet authority of the heavens, before which all earthly things fade into insignificance.
